Makueni County government intends to support school teams that will qualify and participate in the 2023 Federation of East African Secondary Schools Sports Association (FEASSA) games to be held next month in Rwanda.
Speaking to KNA at his Wote office on Tuesday, the Director in charge of Sports, Ambrose Kisoi said the county is ready to facilitate any team from Makueni that will be selected at the national Kenya Secondary Schools Association games to represent the country in Kigali.
Kisoi said so far, Eastern handball champions Mbooni Boys have qualified for the FEASSA games to be held from August 15 to 30 in Kigali.
"As a department, we will offer support to our teams that will participate in the FEASSA games in Kigali through the provision of logistics and sportswear kits,” said Kisoi adding that the move would motivate students that are passionate about sports.
"We will support the teams from our area so that our students can get motivated to work hard, besides getting moral support and recognition," he added.
The director challenged students to perform their best during the county secondary school games to be held on July 13-14 at Kibwezi in order to proceed to the regionals, nationals, and later East Africa games.
