Inter Miami have officially confirmed that Argentine superstar Lionel Messi has signed a new contract with the club, extending his stay until December 2028.
The Major League Soccer side announced the deal through an official video post on Wednesday, marking a significant milestone in the team’s project to build around the global icon. Messi’s previous contract was set to expire in 2026, but the new agreement secures his presence for at least three more years.
According to reports by Reuters and beIN Sports, the agreement was finalized following weeks of discussions between Messi’s representatives and the club’s management. Renowned football journalist Fabrizio Romano also confirmed the news, describing it as “official” and valid through December 2028.
While Inter Miami have not disclosed financial details of the new contract, Messi is expected to remain a central figure both on and off the pitch as the club continues to grow its global profile.
Messi, who joined Inter Miami in 2023 after leaving Paris Saint-Germain, has played a pivotal role in transforming the team’s fortunes, helping them win their first Leagues Cup title and significantly boosting the popularity of MLS worldwide.
