Leeds United booked their place in the FA Cup semi-finals after a dramatic penalty shootout victory over West Ham United on Sunday, April 5, 2026, in a thrilling quarter-final clash that ended 2–2 after extra time.

The high-stakes encounter, played at the London Stadium, saw Leeds take control early, with Ao Tanaka opening the scoring in the 26th minute to give the visitors a deserved first-half lead.

Leeds extended their advantage in the second half when Dominic Calvert-Lewin calmly converted from the penalty spot in the 75th minute, putting them firmly in command and seemingly on course for a comfortable victory.

However, West Ham produced a stunning late comeback, scoring twice in stoppage time through Mateus Fernandes and Axel Disasi in the 93rd and 96th minutes respectively, sending the match into extra time and igniting the home crowd.

Neither side managed to find a winner during extra time, forcing the contest into a tense penalty shootout where Leeds held their nerve to secure a 4–2 victory, with their goalkeeper emerging as the hero after making crucial saves.

The result marks a significant milestone for Leeds, who have now reached their first FA Cup semi-final in decades, underlining their resurgence and determination in domestic cup competitions.

Following the match, the semi-final draw was conducted, pairing Leeds United with Chelsea F.C., while Manchester City F.C. were drawn against Southampton F.C. in the other last-four fixture.

The semi-finals are set to take place at Wembley Stadium later this month, setting up two highly anticipated clashes as the remaining teams battle for a place in the prestigious FA Cup final.
