Learner Assaulted By Teacher In Kisii County
A nine year old learner at a primary boarding school in Kisii county is in shock and pain after several canes were administered by his teacher, inflicting serious injuries on him for failure to be in uniform.
The leaner from Riang’ombe boarding primary school in Borabu sub county nursing wounds on his buttocks had difficulties walking and was in dire need of medication.
Corporal punishment was banned in learning institutions.
Area county police commander James Mituga confirmed the arrest of four suspects who included the head teacher, his deputy, class teacher and care-giver as accomplices. The main suspect ,who was the teacher on duty was at large.
Signs Tv reporter met the kid and the parent at Manga Police station where a P3 form was being processed to assist in holding the assailant to account legally.
Parents of the kid were kept out of communication on the incident until they were tipped by a good Samaritan as the heavily assaulted kid was confined in the dormitory for five days.
Carolyne Nyaboke, the child’s mother who worked in Nairobi narrated how she was frustrated through phone by the school administration when she tried to find-out about the fate of her kid.
The learner’s grand father Lumumba Migiro called for justice to be served on the victim even as he expressed shock over the motive of the teacher.
