Korir leads duo to 800M Semi at World Championships.
Olympic champion Emmanuel Korir led the Kenyan duo of World U20 champion Emmanuel Wanyonyi and Commonwealth Games champion Wycliffe Kinyamal into the semi-final of the men’s 800m at the World Athletics Championships in Oregon on Thursday.
Korir was triumphant in his Heat claiming victory while Wanyonyi fought hard to finish third in his preliminary. Kinyamal finished second on his Heat to also secure a place in the Finals.
Emmanuel Korir was first among the Kenyans to secure the final spot winning with a time of 1:49.05.
Meanwhile Wanyonyi finished third clocking 1:46.45 in his Heat won by Morocco’s Moad Zahafi who timed 1:46.15.
Kinayamal finished second 1:45.08 behind Algeria’s Slimane Moula who timed 1:44.90 to win the competitive Heat.
