Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to free, fair, and transparent elections, dismissing claims of possible electoral manipulation as unfounded and dangerous to national cohesion.
Deputy President Kithure Kindiki said this on Monday when he toured Kitutu Chache North Constituency in Kisii County, where he commissioned Geturi School, inspected major road projects, and assessed ongoing rural electrification works as part of the government’s development agenda. During the visit, Kindiki defended the Kenya Kwanza administration against claims of possible election rigging, insisting that the government supports free, fair, and transparent elections while urging leaders to avoid divisive political rhetoric that could undermine national unity.
The Deputy President was accompanied by Japhet Nyakundi, Daniel Manduku, Dorice Donya, Elsie Okenyuri, and Kisii Deputy Governor Elijah Obebo. The delegation inspected the Mbanda–Nyamokomba–Ng’enyi Road project and the Esamba Last Mile Electricity Connectivity Project in Eronge, while also addressing residents on government programmes in education, infrastructure, and energy development across Kisii County.
And I want to say that President Ruto and all of us do not believe in interfering with democracy. We do not believe in election rigging. We stand for free, fair, transparent elections. Lakini juzi tumesikia wengine saa ingine wanaongea sijui mambo vile kura itakuwa mwaka ujao. I want to say here without fear of contradiction that President Ruto and the Kenya Kwanza Administration believes in the rule of law, believes in democracy, believes in healthy competition, and we do not condone the language of election interference.”
He emphasized that the Kenya Kwanza administration respects democratic institutions and will not interfere with electoral processes.
“Ourselves, we are a product of a free and fair election in 2022.
Kindiki warned political leaders against making statements that could undermine public trust in the electoral system.
He insisted that leadership should be determined by performance and development record rather than rhetoric or political attacks.
“William Ruto akikuja hapa kuomba kura tukiwa na yeye, tutatetewa na kazi; hatutatetewa na kisirani na chuki na ukabila na ile kelele tumepiga. Tutatetewa na kazi na mimi nataka niseme ya kwamba [leaders] will be measured by the work they have done, their track record, not by the number of meetings they have held, not by divisive politics, not by rhetoric, not by tribalism, but by how much they have resolved the issues that are affecting the people of Kenya.”
He reiterated that development achievements will define political leadership in the country.
“Kazi ndiyo itatetea viongozi na msiwe na wasiwasi. President Ruto, mimi Nyakundi, na hawa viongozi wako hapa wote na Gavana wetu Simba Arati ambaye ametuma naibu wake, sisi sote tutatetewa na kazi yetu na hatuna shaka kazi itaongea.”
Kindiki urged residents to focus on development rather than early political campaigns.
“Niseme nisiseme? Ni leo si leo jameni leo. Ama mlikuwa mnataka nikuje niongee nini hapa tena? Si siku ya siasa iko next year?”
He said government priorities remain centered on service delivery across counties.
Stima inaendelea. Mashule kama haya tunajenga. Hiyo ni kazi si kazi? Kazi ni kazi si kazi.”
The Deputy President encouraged continuity of development projects in Kisii County.
He highlighted ongoing investments in infrastructure and social services.
“Tuendelee kujenga hii Kisii yetu, eh, tuwaongezee barabara, eh, tuwaongezee masima, tuwaongezee masoko, tujenge mashule yetu, tujenge [boreholes] tumesema na [dormitory] ya watoto wetu, tununue madawati.”
Kindiki concluded by stressing that leadership should be judged by tangible results delivered to citizens.
