Kenyans to Experience Mixed Weather-MET

The Kenya Meteorological Department has advised Kenyans to prepare for a varied mix of weather conditions as the country heads into the final week of August. The latest forecast predicts a combination of rain, chilly mornings, and hot afternoons across different regions.
According to the weatherman, strong winds are also expected as the country transitions through the final days of the month. Showers are set to continue in areas around the Lake Victoria Basin, the Rift Valley, and parts of Western and Northwestern Kenya. However, the department noted that the intensity and coverage of this rainfall will gradually decrease compared to previous weeks.
Residents of Northeastern and Northwestern Kenya have been urged to prepare for hot afternoons, with daytime temperatures forecast to soar above 30°C in several counties. Meanwhile, chilly nights will dominate parts of the Central Highlands, Central Rift Valley, and areas near Mt. Kilimanjaro, where minimum temperatures may fall below 10°C.
The weatherman has also warned of strong southerly to southeasterly winds blowing at speeds exceeding 25 knots (12.86 m/s). These winds are expected along the Coast, in Kenya’s territorial waters, and in the Southeastern Lowlands and the Northeastern and Northwestern regions.
The Kenya Meteorological Department urged residents, especially those in coastal and semi-arid areas, to stay alert for wind-related disruptions.
