Kenya has been confirmed as the host nation for the 2025 CAF Women’s Champions League CECAFA qualifiers, which will take place in Nairobi from September 4 to September 16. This marks the second time Kenya will host the regional competition, following the inaugural event it organized in 2021.

The Football Kenya Federation (FKF) successfully bid to host the tournament on behalf of CECAFA, the governing body for football in East and Central Africa. CECAFA Competitions Director Yusuf Mossi expressed enthusiasm about the return of the tournament to Kenya, emphasizing its role in advancing women’s football in the region. The tournament was scheduled to finish before September 18, to ensure players are available for the upcoming FIFA U‑20 Women’s World Cup qualifiers.

A total of eight women’s club teams from the CECAFA zone will compete, representing Kenya, Burundi, South Sudan, Tanzania, Ethiopia, Uganda, Rwanda, and Zanzibar. Notably absent are teams from Sudan, Somalia, Eritrea, and Djibouti. The competing clubs are:

  • Kenya Police Bullets FC (Kenya)

  • Top Girls Academy FC (Burundi)

  • Yei Joint Stars FC (South Sudan)

  • JKT Queens (Tanzania)

  • Commercial Bank of Ethiopia FC (Ethiopia)

  • Kampala Queens FC (Uganda)

  • Rayon Sports Women FC (Rwanda)

  • JKU Princesses FC (Zanzibar)

CBE FC and Yei Joint Stars FC are the only teams that have appeared in all four previous editions of the qualifiers. The winner of this zonal competition will qualify to represent CECAFA in the 2025 CAF Women’s Champions League finals.
