Manchester United have reached an agreement in principle with Atalanta to sign Brazilian midfielder Éderson as part of their summer transfer plans. The move is reported to be at an advanced stage, with only medical tests and final paperwork remaining before completion.
The deal is valued at around £35 million to £38 million, depending on the structure of add-ons and performance-related bonuses included in the agreement. Some reports suggest the package could rise closer to £39 million if all clauses are triggered.
Éderson is expected to sign a long-term contract at Old Trafford running until 2030, with an option for an additional year. Personal terms are also believed to have already been agreed between the player and the club.
The 26-year-old Brazilian midfielder has been a key figure for Atalanta since joining from Salernitana in 2022, making over 100 appearances and establishing himself as one of Serie A’s most reliable midfield performers.
He played an important role in Atalanta’s Europa League success in 2024, contributing significantly to their European campaign under Gian Piero Gasperini.
Manchester United reportedly view Éderson as a box-to-box midfielder who can bring energy, defensive stability, and strong ball progression to their midfield unit, which is undergoing restructuring.
Atalanta’s decision to accept the offer is understood to be influenced by the player’s contract situation, with the club preferring to secure a fee rather than risk losing him later on reduced terms.
The transfer is expected to be completed early in the summer window, depending on the scheduling of medical examinations and final registration procedures.
Manchester United are also expected to continue strengthening their midfield options as part of a broader squad rebuild ahead of the new season.
