Kenya to Partner with Foreign Nations to Combat Terrorism, Says Interior PS

The Principal Secretary for the Ministry of Interior and National Administration, Raymond Omollo, has announced that the government plans to collaborate with foreign nations in its efforts to combat terrorism.
Speaking at a meeting of global security chiefs in Nairobi, Omollo emphasized that a coordinated, international approach is crucial for disrupting terrorist networks and ensuring national security.
The forum, he stated, was convened to discuss strategies and frameworks for preventing terrorists from crossing international borders.
Omollo called for the institutionalization of cross-border cooperation mechanisms, such as joint task forces, shared patrols, and coordinated response protocols with neighboring states.
"Our borders must reflect a shared commitment to peace and mutual protection through structured and sustainable frameworks that are contextualized, innovative, and responsive," he said.
Omollo also stressed the need to integrate border security within broader governance and development agendas, arguing that security and prosperity are mutually reinforcing. "Borderlands should be zones of prosperity and must benefit from inclusive development, access to services, and participatory governance," he explained. "This holistic approach reduces vulnerability and counters the appeal of extremist narratives."
The PS concluded by warning that the terrorist threat landscape is rapidly evolving in scope and complexity, underscoring the urgency for a united, global strategy to combat it
