Air shows are a pride and integrated part of countries with an aviation culture. They serve to engage the public, entertain people with aerobatic displays and show off military capabilities.
Air show are not an everyday event in any country 3rd world or developing countries. For Wilson airport it has been a culture to host such event as the very recent was held in 2013 to mark the 50th years since independence in Kenya that was organized by air galore and tusker in partnership with KDF.
The Wilson airport will be closed temporarily closed on Saturday due to the Kenya Defence Force Museum air show festival.
According to Kenya Civil Aviation Authority the airport will be closed and flights to and from between 7AM and 2:30PM will be affected.
Kenya Civil Aviation Authority also went ahead to advise the passengers to check their airline for updates.
“You are all invited to witness this spectacular show of scintillating aerobatics by Kenya Air Force jets and extreme maneuvers by a variety of helicopters in their inventory,” KDF said.
The Kenya Wildlife services will also be showcasing the anti-poaching drill in the exercise. Other participants include the Kenya Airways and Farmland Aviation firefighting display.
