KCB Cruises Past Kenya Prisons in Playoffs Opener.

KCB Women’s Volleyball Team earned a 3-2 hard fought victory over a tough Kenya Prisons side during the Kenya Volleyball Federation (KVF) playoffs played at the Kasarani Indoor Arena this afternoon.

KCB started the match on a high recording a 25-18 win in the first set before falling short in the second set to lose 22-15 to its opponents. They would however recover in the third set winning 25-10.

Kenya Prisons had the upper hand in the fourth set claiming it with a 26-24 victory. KCB sealed their 3-2 win in the last set by trouncing their opponents 15-12.

“This was a very tight affair that we had anticipated considering how teams have been preparing for this year’s playoffs. I am happy for the girls because they put on a show despite the difficult situations. They played well; however, we still need to work on our blocks and serving going into the subsequent matches. We are going back to the team to analyze our play and strategize for tomorrow and Wednesday,” reckoned KCB Head Coach, Japheth Munala.

Munala handed youngster Marlyn Terry who joined the team from Kwanzanze Secondary School a starting spot in today’s fixture and the right attacker delivered an encouraging performance in her first ever match for KCB.

Malkia Strikers skippers Edith Wisa, Belinda Barasa and Mercy Moim were also imperious in the closely contested duel.

The team will play detectives DCI tomorrow afternoon that will culminate in the much-awaited clash against Kenya Pipeline
