Elliot Anderson Completes Record KSh19 Billion Move To Manchester City

Manchester City have completed the signing of England midfielder Elliot Anderson from Nottingham Forest in a deal worth £116 million (approximately KSh19 billion), making it the third-largest transfer in Premier League history. The fee also sets a new club transfer record for City, surpassing the £100 million they paid for Jack Grealish in 2021.
The 23-year-old has signed a five-year contract with the Premier League champions after completing his medical while on international duty with England at the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The transfer will be officially finalised upon his return from the tournament.
Anderson leaves Nottingham Forest after just two seasons, having joined the club from Newcastle United in 2024 for around £35 million. His impressive performances in the Premier League quickly established him as one of England's brightest midfield talents.
During the 2025–26 Premier League campaign, Anderson featured in every league match for Forest, contributing four goals and four assists while playing a pivotal role in helping the club secure European football for next season.
Manchester City identified Anderson as a priority midfield target because of his versatility, work rate and technical ability. He is capable of operating as a defensive midfielder, a box-to-box player or in a more advanced central role.
The transfer marks the beginning of a new chapter for City under head coach Enzo Maresca, who is reshaping the squad following Pep Guardiola's departure. Anderson is expected to strengthen a midfield that already includes Rodri and Phil Foden.
The £116 million fee makes Anderson Manchester City's most expensive signing and one of the costliest British footballers ever. Only two Premier League transfers have commanded higher fees.
For Nottingham Forest, the deal represents a remarkable financial return. The club more than tripled its investment after signing Anderson for approximately £35 million just two years ago, making it one of the most profitable transfers in the club's history.
Anderson came through Newcastle United's academy before gaining senior experience during a loan spell at Bristol Rovers. His rapid development at Nottingham Forest earned him a place in England's senior squad and ultimately attracted interest from several of Europe's leading clubs.
Manchester City believe Anderson's energy, ball-winning ability, progressive passing and tactical intelligence make him an ideal addition as they look to compete for Premier League and UEFA Champions League honours in the coming seasons.
