Kakamega Homeboyz sting Tusker to lift Mozzart FKF Cup
Kakamega Homeboyz beat Tusker FC 1-0 to win the Mozzartbet FKF Cup at the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani on Saturday afternoon.
Kevin Amwayi scored the decisive goal of the match in the 73rd minute, a win that also secures their place in next season’s CAF Confederations Cup, their first time in Continental football.
Tusker on the other hand were looking to console themselves after losing the 2022/2023 KPL title to Gor Mahia last weekend, ending the season without a trophy.
The Brewers who were hoping to clinch their fifth domestic cup after winning the title in 1975, 1989, 1993 and 2016 will also not be missing out in continental football.
Homeboyz went home with the coveted trophy, medals and a cash prize of Ksh.2 million from the tournament sponsors MozzartBet.
The Brewers got Ksh.1million as runners up while AFC Leopards who also beat Ulinzi Stars with the same margin, bagged sh.750, 000. Ulinzi parted with sh. 500,000.
Eugene Mukangula’s solo strike was enough to earn AFC Leopards third place at the expense of Ulinzi Stars at the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani.
