Kenya Breweries Limited, through its flagship brand Tusker, has injected a KSh 3 million sponsorship into the Embu leg of the 2025 National Sevens Circuit, marking the town’s inaugural hosting of the tournament at Njukiri Showground this weekend

Of that amount, Embu Rugby Football Club will receive KSh 1.5 million in cash to support logistical needs, while the remainder is earmarked for enhancing the spectator experience with activations at the Tusker Village and the official afterparty

Embu Sevens Deputy Tournament Director, Norman Mutai, described Tusker’s backing as a significant boost— “It enables us to host a well-organized tournament, welcome teams and fans from across the country, and showcase Embu as a proud rugby destination,” he said, expressing confidence in delivering two days of exceptional rugby action

Keza Mpyisi, Tusker’s Sports Brand Manager, noted that the brand’s growing support stems from past successes in other legs of the circuit. “We are proud to extend our support to the Embu Sevens… This partnership is about celebrating rugby culture across the country and giving fans an unforgettable experience both on and off the pitch,” she stated, referencing the brand’s involvement in Driftwood, Prinsloo, and Christie Sevens tournaments.

Just days earlier at the Christie Sevens, KCB Rugby claimed their eighth title this season by beating Menengai Oilers 17-5. Cabete Stallions triumphed in Division Two with a 22-0 victory over Makueni RFC, while Mwamba RFC won the women’s title by defeating Kenya Harlequins 14-5.

In Embu, Pool A includes KCB, Daystar Falcons, Mwamba RFC, and hosts Embu RFC. Pool B sees Strathmore Leos, Impala RFC, Kabras Sugar, and Kabete Stallions. Pool C features Menengai Oilers, Nakuru RFC, Nondescripts, and Mean Machine. Pool D comprises Kenya Harlequin, Catholic Monks, MMUST, and the invitational side Zetech Oaks.

The National Sevens Circuit will continue with the Kabeberi Sevens and Dala Sevens, where the overall 2025 champion will be crowned.
