Kajiado County To Award Scholarships To 500 Learners, Including Persons with Disabilities
Persons with disabilities in Kajiado County are among 500 learners set to benefit from education scholarships worth Sh40 million courtesy of the county government.
The County Executive Committee Member (CECM) for Education, Jeremiah Ole Ncharo says that the scholarship will target learners pursuing university, colleges, and secondary education in the coming year.
Applications are invited for students pursuing degree and diploma courses in the Engineering, ICT, Education, Health, Water, Agriculture, Fashion and Design, Housing, Environment, and Conservation sectors offered by various reputable institutions in the country.
Though the list of courses is not exhaustive, priority will be given to training courses that target Governor Lenku's four-point agenda namely; modulated pastoralism, livable towns, globally competitive education, and climate-proofed physical environment.
The CECM points out that the county will ensure equity in the award of the scholarships and students from vulnerable groups in society such as orphans, humble family backgrounds, and people with disabilities (PWDs) are encouraged to apply.
The applicants must however be residents of Kajiado County, living in the ward from which they are applying, be admitted to a reputable training institution in the country, and from a vulnerable family background.
Applications are also open for secondary school scholarships for candidates who sat for KCPE in the year 2023 and are eligible to join Form 1 in 2024.
The applicants must have attained 300 marks and above in KCPE, be admitted to a national or extra county school, and must also be from a vulnerable family background in Kajiado county.
Duly filled application forms and relevant attachments must be submitted to the office of the respective ward administrator on or before December 29, 2023. Upon submission of the application forms, applicants must be issued with an application reference number.
