Fred Matiang’i, Jubilee Party deputy leader and presidential flag bearer, intensified his grassroots mobilisation drive in Kiambu County on Friday with the opening of the party’s constituency office in Gatundu South at Wara House, an event that drew local leaders, supporters, and residents as Jubilee expanded its organisational presence ahead of the 2027 General Election.

The ceremony was presented as part of a broader strategy to rebuild the party’s structures from the grassroots, with emphasis on constituency-level coordination and citizen engagement.

Addressing supporters, Matiang’i framed the occasion as a symbolic return to Jubilee’s political roots in Kiambu, linking the county to the party’s historical formation and national rise.

He said, “I thank my God, Honorable Joe Kigara, and many other leaders from the Kiambu branch, and the others... who we have now started entering, so that everywhere here in Kiambu is a starting point for everyone...”

He added that the new office would serve as a central meeting point for citizens and leaders, stating, “...our Jubilee office, so that we may find a place to meet the citizens and other leaders.”

Matiang’i further emphasized the symbolic importance of Kiambu in Jubilee’s political history, noting, “And as you know, here in Kiambu, it is the home of our party leader, former President, the Honorable Uhuru Kenyatta.”

He continued by linking the party’s past and present political journey, saying, “Therefore, Jubilee was born here, and we have come home. Today, I am happy because of God's grace. I have entered the very first office that Honorable Uhuru Kenyatta started...”

He drew a parallel between past and present political trajectories, stating, “...just as the Honorable Uhuru started from this office to State House, and I have started here, and we will go on that same journey...”

He reinforced the message of continuity and political ambition while calling for unity and calm within the party.

Matiang’i stressed that Jubilee remains committed to peaceful politics, saying, “Jubilee is a party of peace. We have no problem with anyone. We are not fighting with people, and we want to keep peace.”

He further stated that the party avoids confrontational politics, adding, “We are not a party that insults people. We do not want to fight with anyone. We want to fix our country of Kenya.”

Turning to national concerns, he suggested that governance challenges are widespread, saying, “The problem is there... what you hear here in Katundu is what we are hearing in all other parts of Kenya. Is it working here in Katundu? No.”

He argued that the issues being experienced locally reflect a national pattern, stating, “If it is not working here, it is not working anywhere else in the Republic of Kenya.”

Matiang’i called for political unity across generations and social groups, urging supporters to remain engaged through party structures and membership mobilisation.

He encouraged political participation at all levels, emphasizing inclusivity among youth, elders, and women as part of Jubilee’s rebuilding process.

He also made a political appeal to supporters, urging stronger mobilisation efforts, saying, “...we are looking for many votes, that is the work...”

In a separate political message circulated alongside the event, Matiang’i issued a strongly worded critique of national governance, arguing that the country’s situation had deteriorated significantly.

He stated, “I would just like to say that the country has completely been ruined.”

He also referenced political tensions and opposition activity, saying, “Today, I saw someone in the newspaper, the Secretary General of the UDA party, saying that they are planning to bring demonstrations here.”

He urged restraint and political calm, stating, “I would like to tell UDA, please leave our leader alone because there is no need to ruin this country.”

He continued with broader criticism of the current administration, saying, “You left the country in a good state, you are ruining it, you have failed, and you will go home, you will be cleared out.”

Matiang’i positioned the upcoming election as a turning point, stating, “This country is for 2027. We have agreed on that absolutely.”

He further claimed widespread dissatisfaction among citizens, saying, “In the whole country... we do not want Ruto again.”

He concluded by calling for a shift in leadership priorities, stating, “We ask... please give us leaders who have meaning... who will stand with the citizens, not those who stand for their stomachs.”

The Gatundu South office launch is part of a wider Jubilee rollout plan to establish constituency offices across the country, with party officials describing it as a key step in strengthening grassroots coordination ahead of the next electoral cycle.
