Jamie Carragher has criticised Mohamed Salah for remaining silent during Liverpool’s recent poor run of form, saying the Egyptian only tends to speak publicly after winning a Man of the Match award or when negotiating a new deal.
Carragher’s comments come after Liverpool’s sixth defeat in seven Premier League matches, a slump that has mounted pressure on senior players to show leadership. The former Liverpool defender praised captain Virgil van Dijk for fronting the media but said others, including Salah, should also take responsibility.
Referring to Salah’s past contract saga, Carragher noted that the forward was vocal during negotiations but has been absent during the team’s current struggles. “I only ever hear Salah speak when he gets man of the match or when he needs a new contract,” Carragher was quoted as saying.
He urged Salah to step up as one of Liverpool’s senior figures and show leadership by addressing fans amid the crisis, emphasizing that communication should not be left to the captain alone.
