Israeli Airstrikes Kill 570 In Lebanon, Health Ministry Reports

Israeli airstrikes in Lebanon have killed at least 570 people since March 2, according to the Lebanese Ministry of Public Health, as fighting between Israel and the Iran-backed group Hezbollah intensifies. The ministry says the victims include 86 children and 14 healthcare workers, with more than 1,400 people reported injured during the same period.
Officials in Beirut provided a breakdown of the casualties, saying the dead include 439 men, 45 women and 86 children. Health authorities also confirmed that several medical staff were among those killed, raising alarm about the growing impact of the conflict on hospitals and emergency response teams.
The latest escalation began after Hezbollah launched attacks toward Israel earlier in March, prompting a wave of Israeli airstrikes targeting what Israel says are Hezbollah military sites and infrastructure across Lebanon. The strikes have mainly hit southern Lebanon, the Bekaa Valley and areas near Beirut.
Israeli forces say the operations are aimed at weakening Hezbollah’s military capabilities and stopping cross-border attacks on communities in northern Israel. Hezbollah, which is backed by Iran, has continued to fire rockets and drones toward Israeli territory during the confrontation.
Some of the strikes have also reached densely populated residential neighborhoods, including parts of the Lebanese capital Beirut. Reports from local media indicate that several apartment buildings have been damaged or destroyed during the bombardments.
The rising number of casualties has placed significant pressure on Lebanon’s health system. Medical authorities say hospitals in several regions are struggling to cope with the growing number of wounded people arriving from areas affected by the strikes.
The conflict has also triggered a large displacement crisis, with many families fleeing southern villages and border communities in search of safer areas further north. Temporary shelters and schools have been opened to host displaced residents.
Regional tensions have continued to escalate as the confrontation between Israel and Hezbollah unfolds alongside broader Middle East conflicts. International leaders and humanitarian organizations have renewed calls for restraint and for the protection of civilians as violence continues to spread.
