Iran’s national football team has secured visas to enter the United States ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, ending uncertainty that had surrounded the squad’s travel plans in the final days before the tournament.

The approvals allow players, coaches and key support staff to travel into the United States for official World Cup fixtures after concerns emerged over delays in processing and entry arrangements.

Questions over Iran’s participation had intensified as preparations entered the final phase, with football officials expressing concern that delayed approvals could affect training schedules and match readiness.

To manage the situation, Iran adjusted its tournament logistics and relocated its World Cup base camp from Arizona to Tijuana, Mexico, after receiving approval for the revised arrangements.

The new setup means the team will remain based in Mexico throughout the competition period and travel into the United States for matches before returning to camp.

Reports circulating online suggested Iran had been issued visas that restricted long-term stays in the United States, but available information confirms the Mexico arrangement was primarily adopted for operational and logistical reasons.

Iran are expected to continue final preparations from their training base before beginning their World Cup campaign according to schedule.

Despite the travel complications and political attention surrounding the arrangements, Iran remain officially cleared to compete and are expected to proceed with their tournament plans without changes to their scheduled fixtures.
