Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya on Thursday morning held a consultative meeting with former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua as preparations intensified for a planned five-day political tour across Kenya’s Western region. The meeting was held ahead of the launch of a series of regional engagements.

Natembeya said the discussions focused on leadership, unity and the aspirations of residents as the team prepares to engage wananchi during the multi-county tour.

The consultations were presented as part of wider efforts to listen to public concerns and strengthen regional political conversations ahead of future national contests.

The planned tour is expected to run for five days beginning Friday, with opposition leaders targeting a series of public rallies and public engagements across major centres in Western Kenya.

According to the planned itinerary, the leaders are expected to begin in Luanda before extending activities into Kakamega County as part of a broader outreach programme.

The programme is also expected to include Busia County, which remains politically influential within the region and is expected to attract significant public participation.

After Busia, the leaders are expected to proceed to Bungoma County with several stopovers planned before advancing into Trans Nzoia.

Natembeya is expected to host part of the final leg of the tour in Trans Nzoia, including activities in Kiminini and a concluding rally in Kitale.

Gachagua described the consultations as part of broader preparations aimed at strengthening coordination among leaders and expanding engagement with supporters.

The former Deputy President also emphasised the importance of political unity and continued consultations around building consensus on future political direction ahead of the 2027 General Election.

The discussions reportedly included updates on ongoing stakeholder consultations being conducted across different regions as leaders seek public input on governance and development priorities.

Natembeya is understood to have briefed Gachagua on political sentiments emerging from Western Kenya and expectations surrounding the regional engagements.

The meeting adds to a growing series of opposition consultations taking place across the country as leaders position themselves ahead of heightened political activity expected in the lead-up to the next election cycle.
