Deputy President Professor Kithure Kindiki addressing the church during the Interdenominational Sunday Worship and Thanksgiving, Ziwa, Soy Constituency, Uasin Gishu County.

Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has emphasized government efforts to strengthen agricultural productivity, saying fertilizer distribution will be prioritized to support farmers facing challenging weather conditions and improve national food security outcomes.

Speaking during an interdenominational Sunday worship and thanksgiving service in Ziwa, Soy Constituency, Uasin Gishu County, Kithure Kindiki described the church as an important partner in Kenya’s socio-economic development, saying faith institutions contribute to social welfare, economic empowerment and the promotion of positive values. He participated in a resource mobilisation drive for 19 church congregations and updated congregants on government programmes in agriculture, education, health, housing and infrastructure, while calling on Kenyans to continue supporting William Ruto as the administration pursues its development agenda and seeks continuity into a possible second term.

He added that coordination between ministries and county leadership will ensure timely delivery of inputs to farming regions such as Uasin Gishu, as part of broader agricultural support programs.

On development, Kindiki highlighted major infrastructure projects including roads, healthcare facilities, and housing initiatives aimed at transforming urban centers and improving service delivery across the country.

The biggest hospital in this region, which will cost over 56 billion Kenya shillings…

He said the affordable housing programme alone is expected to benefit tens of thousands of residents, while ongoing hospital construction and road networks are intended to expand access to essential services.

Kindiki also defended the government’s constitutional interpretation on presidential terms, arguing that the legal framework is designed to allow continuity in policy implementation through a two-term structure.

“Katiba yetu imesema ya kwamba mtu akichaguliwa kama kiongozi wa taifa… apewe miaka mitano afanye kazi… alafu aongezewe miaka mingine mitano ili akamilishe ile kazi ambayo ameanza… Anybody speaking about one term must know they are undermining the constitution of Kenya.”

He maintained that governance systems require sufficient time for leaders to initiate and complete development agendas, dismissing calls for single-term limits as inconsistent with constitutional design.

Turning to fiscal policy, the Deputy President addressed debates surrounding the Finance Bill and national budget, insisting that parliamentary processes had clarified misconceptions regarding taxation measures.

He argued that the budget process reflects citizen priorities such as roads, electricity expansion, and infrastructure development funded through lawful taxation.

On public demonstrations, Kindiki reiterated that while constitutional rights are protected, any actions involving violence, looting, or destruction of property would not be tolerated under law.

He assured that security agencies will protect both protesters and non-participants, including traders and commuters, during planned demonstrations.

Kindiki issued a strong warning ahead of the anticipated protests, stating that security forces are prepared to maintain order and prevent disruptions across the country.

“This is not supposed to be a threat… on Thursday, there will be no monkey business anywhere in the Republic of Kenya… kila mwananchi amelindwa na serikali, amelindwa na sheria.”

He emphasized that law enforcement will act decisively to safeguard public order while allowing lawful expression within constitutional limits.

Concluding his remarks, the Deputy President called for continued support for government development programs and reaffirmed commitment to working closely with local leadership to accelerate ongoing projects.

He expressed appreciation for local hospitality in Uasin Gishu and signaled continued engagement with residents as development projects progress across the region.
