Grimsby Town Fined For Fielding Ineligible Player In Carabao Cup Win Over Manchester United

Grimsby Town have been fined £20,000 by the EFL after fielding an ineligible player during their Carabao Cup second-round victory against Manchester United.
The sanction, announced on Tuesday, includes a suspended £10,000 fine which will only be enforced if the club repeat the offence before the end of the season.
The Mariners were penalised after new signing Clarke Oduor’s registration was submitted one minute past the 12pm deadline on the day before the tie. Although the registration was approved, EFL rules meant Oduor was not eligible to feature.
Despite the error, Oduor came off the bench in the 73rd minute at Blundell Park and went on to miss the decisive penalty in the dramatic 12-11 shoot-out win following a 2-2 draw. The midfielder had only just joined Grimsby on loan from Bradford City on August 26.
