Gor Mahia have been fined KSh 300,000 by the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) following crowd trouble during their Premier League opener against Bidco United at the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani. The chaotic scenes unfolded as fans without tickets tried to gain entry into the stadium, forcing police officers to intervene and restore order.
According to FKF’s disciplinary committee, the club was found guilty of breaching match organization and safety regulations. The committee cited poor crowd control and failure to ensure proper ticketing procedures, which resulted in disorder and disruption before kickoff.
In its ruling, the federation emphasized that Gor Mahia could not absolve itself of responsibility, despite having outsourced ticketing and access control to a private vendor. FKF insisted that the club remains accountable for the behavior and safety of its supporters during all home matches.
The federation further warned that repeat incidents could attract harsher sanctions, including playing matches behind closed doors or point deductions. The fine must be settled within the stipulated period as FKF seeks to enforce discipline and improve safety standards in domestic football.
