After Church the United opposition team took it's campaign to Gatanga
Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua on Sunday attended an interdenominational church service at Kirathani Grounds in Ithanga, Gatanga Constituency, Murang’a County, where he joined Christian faithful for prayers and worship.
The service brought together several opposition leaders who accompanied him to the event, including Kalonzo Musyoka, Eugene Wamalwa, Justin Muturi and Mohammed Ali, alongside other political allies.
During the church gathering at Kirathani Grounds, Gachagua cited a biblical message from Book of Jeremiah, urging Kenyans to remain faithful and obedient to God. He told congregants that the country must seek divine guidance during difficult political and economic times.
Gachagua said the leaders had gathered to place Kenya before God and pray for the protection and unity of all citizens. He noted that the nation was going through challenging times that require prayer and reflection.
Addressing worshippers, the former deputy president claimed the country is experiencing what he described as a leadership vacuum and said many Kenyans feel abandoned by those in authority.
He urged citizens to remain united and committed to defending democracy, freedoms and the welfare of ordinary Kenyans, saying the struggle for justice and better governance continues.
After the church service, Gachagua and the opposition leaders held a public engagement at Kirathani and later at Gatunyu Shopping Centre in Gatanga Constituency where they interacted with residents and traders.
The leaders thanked residents for turning out in large numbers to greet them and for welcoming them warmly during their visit to the area.
Gachagua said public engagements allow leaders to listen directly to the concerns of citizens and understand the challenges they face in their daily lives.
He claimed many Kenyans are struggling with economic hardship and rising cost of living, and accused the current administration of failing to prioritize the welfare of ordinary citizens.
Other leaders present also addressed residents, calling for unity among opposition parties and encouraging citizens to participate actively in shaping the country’s political future.
The visit to Gatanga is part of a series of public engagements by opposition figures across different regions as they continue consultations with citizens ahead of the next political cycle.
