United Opposition stage campaigns across Ogembo Town and other Gusii nation towns

Opposition leaders led by Rigathi Gachagua on Wednesday held a series of political engagements across Kisii and Nyamira counties as part of an ongoing regional mobilisation tour.

The activities were conducted under the banner of the Democracy for Citizens Party, where Gachagua is the party leader, with the focus placed on strengthening grassroots structures and recruiting new members.

In Ogembo Town, Kisii County, the delegation met residents and formally received several local political aspirants who declared their intention to join the DCP Party.

The aspirants were introduced to supporters during a public gathering attended by residents from surrounding areas of Bomachoge and neighbouring constituencies.

From Ogembo, the team proceeded to Nyamache Stadium in Bobasi Constituency, where a public participation forum was convened.

At Nyamache, leaders addressed residents on governance, economic challenges and the need for organised political participation ahead of the 2027 General Election.

The delegation later travelled to Masimba in Nyaribari Masaba Constituency for another rally that drew supporters from across Kisii County.

Across the three stops, the leaders outlined their party’s agenda and appealed for unity within the Gusii region.

Accompanying Gachagua throughout the tour were senior opposition figures including Kalonzo Musyoka, Martha Karua and Fred Matiang'i.

Local leaders from Kisii and Nyamira counties joined the principals at different venues and addressed supporters during the meetings.

Security personnel were deployed at the various rally venues to maintain order as crowds gathered in Ogembo, Nyamache and Masimba.

The opposition leaders criticised the Kenya Kwanza administration over what they termed economic hardship and governance concerns.

They maintained that the tour forms part of a wider national outreach strategy aimed at consolidating support across key regions.

By the close of Wednesday’s engagements, the delegation had completed multiple stops in Kisii County, marking another phase of the opposition’s nationwide mobilisation campaign.
