United Opposition leader Rigathi Gachagua today attended a church service at Good Shepherd Catholic Parish in Njabini, Nyandarua County, alongside key opposition figures, in what leaders described as a unifying public engagement for residents of Kinangop Constituency.
The service brought together opposition principals including Fred Matiang’i, recently endorsed as a Jubilee presidential candidate, and Justin Muturi, reflecting growing collaboration among opposition ranks ahead of the 2027 elections.
During the event, leaders prayed with residents and emphasised the importance of community cohesion, social development, and political engagement, urging Kenyans to actively participate in civic affairs.
Following the service, Gachagua and other leaders collected themselves to address residents in Njabini town, continuing their interaction with the local population and discussing issues affecting the constituency.
The gathering formed part of a broader strategy by the United Opposition to engage communities in all counties, highlighting concerns over service delivery, governance, and development priorities.
While the church service was peaceful, the event drew attention due to the high-profile presence of opposition figures, signalling the alliance’s focus on unifying voters across the Mt. Kenya region.
Residents of Njabini and surrounding areas expressed optimism over the engagement, describing the leaders’ presence as a demonstration of commitment to listen and respond to local concerns.
Gachagua, speaking to attendees after the service, highlighted the need for transparent leadership and active citizen participation as part of strengthening Kenya’s democratic processes.
He also emphasised collaboration between opposition leaders and local authorities to ensure that public engagements are constructive and focused on developmental outcomes rather than political division.
Observers noted that the event in Njabini is part of a series of planned engagements across Kinangop Constituency and other counties aimed at consolidating voter support for the United Opposition ahead of the next general elections.
The Sunday event underscores the opposition’s approach of combining community service, spiritual engagement, and political interaction to connect with voters while promoting unity and dialogue on national and local issues.
