Democracy for the Citizens Party Leader Rigathi Gachagua during the Homecoming Celebrations of David Persaina the DCP Party Chairman.

Rigathi Gachagua led a high-profile political and cultural gathering in Kajiado County during a homecoming and thanksgiving ceremony held in honour of David Parseina, the National Chairman of the Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP).

The event took place in Kitengela, specifically in the Korompoi area of Kajiado East, drawing a large crowd of residents, local leaders and DCP supporters.

The ceremony was organised to celebrate Parseina’s elevation as the pioneer national chairperson of the party, marking a significant milestone in DCP’s leadership structure.

Gachagua, who was the chief guest, used the platform to both honour Parseina and advance his party’s political agenda in the Maa region.

The gathering blended cultural celebration with political messaging, as leaders and residents participated in a thanksgiving ceremony recognising what they described as national blessings.

In his address, Gachagua underscored the political importance of the Maa community, stating, “The Maa nation has been marginalized for too long. The time has come for the Maa nation to sit on the decision-making table for our great nation.”

He framed the statement as part of DCP’s broader commitment to inclusivity and equitable representation across all communities in Kenya.

The former deputy president also addressed national political dynamics, urging Kenyans not to assign collective blame to communities over leadership failures.

“Ruto abandoned his people, the colleagues, when he abandoned the rest of Kenya. I want to plead with the people of Kenya not to blame the community for the mistakes of William Ruto. William Ruto should be judged as a person and his mistakes should not be carried by the community,” he said.

Gachagua further criticised current economic conditions, particularly the burden on workers, linking it to government policies.

“Pay has been reduced. Workers have been deducted money for housing, they have been squeezed of money for NSSF, and taxed 47%. There is nobody to talk for them,” he said.

He added, “You are the general on Labour Day who is supposed to defend workers to get a salary increase and not be taxed, but you go and say that Ruto should be given more time, and you are the one hurting the workers.”

The DCP leader also challenged government development claims, particularly regarding infrastructure projects.

“I want to challenge you William Ruto. Stop deceiving the Luos that you will build the SGR. There is nothing like that,” he said.

He continued, “If you are the President and you believe you will build the SGR tomorrow or Monday, publish the contract showing the date of commencement and date of completion of the project.”

Gachagua intensified the challenge, adding, “I, Riggy G, challenge you. Go and publish the contract for the SGR showing the date of commencement, the date of completion, and the financial agreement.”

He claimed the government had no such documentation, stating, “There is nothing you will publish because there is nothing.”

In a strongly worded segment, he accused the president of divisive politics, saying, “You think people are foolish? You are playing communities against each other. Your time is up.”

He further declared, “Kenyans have known you, and I know you more than anyone. I want to tell the Luos, I told you.”

Gachagua also suggested a shift in political momentum, remarking, “That is a closed chapter, and by the way, I don’t want to brag, but I want to tell William Ruto any politics, you know nothing, I’ll teach you politics next year.”

He went on to accuse the president of deception, stating, “Your strength was conmanship and deception. Kenyans have now exposed you as somebody who is deceptive and a conman.”

The DCP leader raised concerns about fuel quality, warning of a potential crisis affecting motorists across the country.

“As we speak, the company has admitted through the Minister of Industry and the Minister of Energy and Petroleum that substandard fuel was brought into the country,” he said.

He warned that fuel with high sulphur content could damage engines, adding that “we are staring at a national crisis.”

In another emotional appeal, Gachagua addressed land and historical grievances among the Maa community.

“Take everything you can. Take the land of the Maasai. Take everything… But I want to assure you, next year you will be out and you will go home,” he said.

He also outlined his continued political engagement in the region, stating, “I am here for three days. When I leave here, I am going all the way to Loitokitok to plan politics. I will stay with the elders and the women.”

Gachagua criticised sections of the security leadership, describing one official as “the greatest embarrassment to the security sector since independence.”

He called for national unity and collaboration, saying, “I want to ask the nation to work with me closely. I want to work with them closely too.”

The DCP leader praised Kenyan communities for their patriotism, stating, “The community is a loyal community. They are great public servants. They are loyal people to their country.”

He added that such communities “can be depended upon to govern this country,” reinforcing his appeal for broader national support.

The event also highlighted DCP’s growing grassroots mobilisation efforts as the party seeks to expand its influence beyond traditional strongholds.

Leaders present reiterated their confidence in Parseina’s leadership, expressing optimism that his role would strengthen the party’s presence in Kajiado and beyond.

The homecoming ultimately served as both a celebration and a political rally, signalling DCP’s intent to position itself as a major player in Kenya’s evolving political landscape ahead of the 2027 general election.
