Former Arsenal youth striker Billy Vigar has tragically died at the age of 21 after suffering a fatal brain injury during a match for Chichester City.
The incident occurred on Saturday, September 20, 2025, during an Isthmian League Premier Division game against Wingate & Finchley. Vigar collided with a wall near the pitch about 15 minutes into the match, sustaining a serious head injury. He was airlifted to a London hospital and placed in an induced coma, but his condition deteriorated, and he passed away on Thursday, September 25.
Vigar began his football career at Arsenal’s academy in December 2017 and signed his first professional contract in July 2022. After loan spells at Derby County and Eastbourne Borough, he joined Hastings United and later moved to Chichester City, where he made four appearances and scored once this season.
Chichester City postponed their next fixture against Lewes to honor Vigar, while Arsenal paid tribute by wearing black armbands during their match against Newcastle United. The football community has expressed deep condolences to his family and teammates.
