Football Kenya Federation (FKF) President Hussein Mohammed has publicly attacked FKF Chief Executive Officer Harold Ndege, accusing him of incompetence and calling for his immediate removal. The dispute has intensified over recent days, drawing national attention and raising concerns over governance in the country’s football administration.

Mohammed told the media that his reform agenda is built on pillars of integrity, transparency, and accountability, insisting that Kenya’s football can only thrive by confronting corruption, mediocrity, and ineptitude. “For too long, low standards have been tolerated in our institutions. This must stop,” he said, stressing the need for decisive action.

The president described the ongoing reforms as painful but necessary, warning that failure to address leadership weaknesses could undermine the long-term development of football in Kenya. He pledged to ensure that all departments within FKF operate efficiently and transparently.

The tension between the president and CEO has reportedly escalated to the FKF National Executive Committee (NEC), where Ndege is said to have been sidelined from internal communications ahead of key meetings. Sources suggest that this move has fueled fears of institutional instability within the federation.

Mohammed accused Ndege of mismanaging programmes and failing to implement policies effectively, which he claims has stalled progress on critical initiatives. He said that Kenya’s football will only regain credibility if accountability mechanisms are enforced at every level.

In response, Ndege has challenged the president’s actions, taking the matter to court to halt attempts to remove him. Legal sources confirm that proceedings are underway, highlighting the seriousness of the internal dispute.

Former FKF officials and stakeholders have expressed concern over the conflict, warning that continued discord could affect preparations for domestic and international competitions. They urged both leaders to seek a resolution for the good of Kenyan football.

Observers note that the feud comes at a sensitive time as the federation gears up for upcoming Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers and other continental tournaments. The leadership crisis could potentially disrupt team preparations and organisational planning.

Despite mounting criticism, Mohammed remains resolute, reiterating that his administration will not tolerate inefficiency or corruption. He insists that the reform agenda is crucial for Kenya to achieve its long-term goal of becoming a top footballing nation.
