England produced a dominant display in Belgrade as they cruised to a 5-0 victory over Serbia in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, tightening their grip on top spot in Group K.
Harry Kane opened the scoring in the 33rd minute with a header from a Declan Rice corner, before Noni Madueke doubled the lead two minutes later with his first senior international goal after clever work from Morgan Rogers. Ezri Konsa added a third early in the second half, capitalising on a mistake by the Serbian goalkeeper to score his maiden strike for the Three Lions.
Serbia’s night got worse when Nikola Milenković was shown a straight red card for a foul on Kane in the 73rd minute. From the resulting free-kick, Marc Guehi rose highest to make it 4-0. Substitute Marcus Rashford sealed the win with a late penalty after Ollie Watkins was brought down inside the box.
The match was marred by crowd disturbances, including the use of laser pointers, a fake whistle, and a provocative anti-Kosovo banner, which forced the referee to briefly halt play. Riot police were later seen intervening to calm sections of the home support.
The result leaves Thomas Tuchel’s side with five wins from five, no goals conceded, and a commanding lead in Group K. England now need just four points from their remaining three qualifiers to secure a place at the 2026 World Cup with a game to spare.
