Ederson Transfer To Manchester United Nears Completion

Manchester United are closing in on the signing of Brazilian midfielder Ederson from Italian side Atalanta after reaching an agreement on a transfer worth around €45 million, including performance-related add-ons. The clubs have been aligned on the financial terms for more than a month.
The Premier League club is expected to carry out the second phase of Ederson's medical examination in England this week before giving the final approval for the transfer. The additional assessment is intended to provide complete medical clearance before the deal is signed.
The delay in completing the transfer is not related to negotiations between Manchester United and Atalanta. Instead, United's medical team wants further guarantees regarding the player's fitness before the club finalises the move.
Personal terms between Ederson and Manchester United have already been agreed, meaning only the completion of the medical process and final paperwork remain before the transfer can be officially announced.
Ederson has established himself as one of Serie A's most consistent central midfielders since joining Atalanta from Salernitana in 2022. He has become a regular starter under Gian Piero Gasperini and earned a reputation for his ball-winning ability, work rate and versatility.
The Brazilian international was an important member of the Atalanta squad that won the 2023/24 UEFA Europa League, helping the Italian club secure the first major European trophy in its history.
Manchester United view Ederson as a key addition to strengthen their midfield ahead of the 2026/27 season. His ability to play both as a defensive midfielder and a box-to-box midfielder has made him one of the club's priority transfer targets.
If the second medical examination is completed successfully, Manchester United are expected to finalise the transfer immediately, with an official announcement likely to follow after all contractual documents have been signed.
