Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua spent Easter Sunday, April 5, 2026, in Gatundu North, Kiambu County, where he combined religious observance with a series of public and political engagements.
The day began at AIPCA Gakoe Church, where he joined Christian faithful for Easter Sunday service commemorating the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
During the service, a reading from the Gospel of Matthew 28:6 was highlighted, reinforcing the Easter message: “He is not here; He has risen, just as He said.”
Gachagua used the occasion to call for hope and renewal, stating that the risen Christ should inspire strength and unity among Kenyans.
He urged citizens to remain steadfast in faith while working together toward national progress and cohesion during challenging times.
Following the church service, he engaged residents of Gakoe, thanking them for their reception and participation in the Easter gathering.
He assured Kenyans that he remains committed to delivering on their expectations, emphasizing that leadership must prioritize inclusivity and shared prosperity.
Gachagua noted that the journey toward national transformation requires collective effort, promising that no Kenyan would be left behind.
Later, he held a public engagement in Gatukuyu, where he addressed residents on governance and economic concerns.
During the address, he alleged widespread mismanagement of public resources, claiming that national assets were being exploited at the expense of citizens.
In a defiant tone, Gachagua dared the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to arrest him over his remarks, insisting that he would not be intimidated for speaking out.
He further claimed that some senior government officials were engaging in more serious misconduct yet continued to walk free without accountability.
The former Deputy President criticized what he described as selective enforcement of the law, arguing that political leaders should not be targeted for expressing their views.
He later addressed residents in Kamwangi, thanking them for their support and urging continued public vigilance on national issues.
Gachagua concluded his Easter Sunday programme by reaffirming his commitment to what he termed a national “liberation” agenda, while calling on Kenyans to remain united and resilient.
