Defending Africa Cup of Nations champions Ivory Coast were held to a 1–1 draw by Cameroon in a compelling Group F encounter at the 2025 AFCON in Marrakech on Sunday.
Manchester United winger Amad Diallo opened the scoring shortly after the hour mark, netting his second goal of the tournament in the 51st minute to give the Elephants the lead. It marked his second successive game finding the back of the net after scoring the winner in Ivory Coast’s previous match against Mozambique.
However, the lead was short-lived. Just five minutes later, a Junior Tchamadeu effort took a deflection off Ivory Coast defender Ghislain Konan, looping past his own goalkeeper and bringing Cameroon level.
The draw leaves both nations level on four points at the top of Group F, with Mozambique a point behind following their 3–2 victory over Gabon earlier in the day.
With the top two teams from each group guaranteed progression to the Round of 16, and the best four third-placed sides also advancing, both heavyweights remain firmly in contention as the group stage nears its conclusion.
This result ensures a dramatic finish to Group F, with the Ivory Coast and Cameroon still well positioned to qualify for the knockout phase of the tournament.
