Spain defender Dean Huijsen has withdrawn from the national team camp after suffering a muscle injury during training. The Real Madrid centre-back was unable to take part in Tuesday’s session, and medical tests conducted by team doctors confirmed the problem. The Spanish Football Federation announced that Huijsen would not continue with the squad as a precaution.
The 19-year-old had been included in Spain’s camp ahead of their October international fixtures but began to experience discomfort in his leg shortly after joining up with the team. Following consultations between the national medical staff and Real Madrid, the decision was made to release him to allow for recovery and further evaluation by his club.
Reports in Spain indicate that the injury is not considered serious, with early estimates suggesting that Huijsen could be out for around one to two weeks. Real Madrid’s medical department is expected to conduct additional scans once the player returns to the capital to confirm the extent of the muscle issue.
In Huijsen’s absence, Spain coach Luis de la Fuente has called up Aymeric Laporte to reinforce the defensive options. The squad is preparing for upcoming international matches, and Huijsen will now focus on regaining full fitness before returning to Real Madrid duties later this month.
