Sports Cabinet Secretary Salim Mvurya has officially gazetted a 38-member Pamoja Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2027 Local Organising Committee (LOC), tasked with coordinating Kenya’s preparations for the continent’s premier football tournament.
The gazette notice, dated 30 March 2026, formalises the committee’s role in overseeing logistics, infrastructure, and overall tournament delivery, as Kenya co-hosts the 36th edition of AFCON alongside Uganda and Tanzania under the “Pamoja” banner.
The LOC will be chaired by veteran football administrator Nicholas Musonye, while FKF President Hussein Mohammed has been appointed vice-chairperson, underscoring the federation’s central role in tournament preparations.
The 38-member committee includes FKF National Executive Committee officials, representatives from government ministries, private sector partners, and key sporting agencies. Notable members include former Gor Mahia CEO McDonald Mariga, KBC MD Agnes Kalekye, and leaders from the Anti-Doping Agency of Kenya.
A secretariat based at Talanta Plaza in Upper Hill, Nairobi, will coordinate day-to-day operations under CEO Anthony Emmanuel Inzahuli Lung’aho, ensuring CAF compliance and timely delivery of all preparatory milestones.
The committee’s responsibilities encompass stadium renovations, volunteer recruitment, marketing campaigns, sponsorship engagement, and community outreach programmes aimed at promoting youth involvement and legacy benefits.
Officials say the LOC will also leverage the tournament to boost tourism, showcase Kenya’s culture, and create employment opportunities linked to AFCON 2027 activities.
With the committee now gazetted, preparations for Pamoja AFCON 2027 are expected to accelerate, positioning Kenya to deliver a seamless and high-profile continental football event.
