Former Tigania East Member of Parliament Josephat Gichunge Kabeabea has been released on a Sh1 million cash bail in connection with a Sh25 million land fraud case involving twelve investors.

The court heard that the matter stems from allegations that the investors lost money through land purchase arrangements linked to transactions under dispute.

Prosecutors told the court that the complainants entered into agreements expecting allocation of land parcels, but later raised concerns over ownership and transfer processes.

The accused denied the allegations before the court, maintaining that he is not responsible for the disputed transactions being investigated.

The court considered the bail application and granted him release on cash bail terms set at Sh1 million pending further proceedings.

Magistrate directions indicated that the case will be mentioned again on July 2 for further guidance on the way forward.

Investigators are reported to have examined documentation and statements from the complainants as part of ongoing inquiries into the alleged fraud scheme.

The case involves twelve investors who claim they collectively suffered losses amounting to Sh25 million in the disputed land dealings.

Court records show that the matter remains active and is expected to proceed through additional pre-trial processes before hearing.

Gichunge remains presumed innocent as the court continues to examine the evidence and arguments from both the prosecution and defence.
