Congo Republic and Tanzania battled to a 1-1 draw in their FIFA World Cup CAF Qualifier (Group E, Round 7) at the Stade Alphonse Massamba Débat in Brazzaville on Friday night. Both teams had their moments but ultimately settled for a point each.

After a cagey first half that ended goalless, the breakthrough came in the 68th minute when D. Moussavou converted from a C. Atipo assist to hand Congo Republic a 1-0 lead. The hosts looked set to secure victory, but Tanzania kept pushing forward in search of an equalizer.

Their persistence paid off in the 84th minute as substitute S. Mwalimu found the back of the net from C. Mzize’s assist, silencing the home crowd and levelling the score at 1-1. Despite late efforts from both sides, neither team could find a decisive winner.

The result leaves both nations with work to do in Group E as the race for World Cup qualification tightens. Tanzania, ranked 103rd in FIFA standings, may feel slightly more satisfied with the away point, while Congo Republic, ranked 132nd, will rue their missed chance to claim all three points at home.
