Chelsea To Donate Part Of Club World Cup Bonuses To Jota And Silva Families

Chelsea will use part of the Club World Cup bonuses awarded to players to make a financial donation to the families of Diogo Jota and Andre Silva. The gesture comes as a mark of solidarity following personal tragedies affecting the two footballers.
The west London side lifted the trophy in FIFA’s newly-expanded tournament in July after a dominant 3-0 win over Paris Saint-Germain in the final at the MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. It was Chelsea’s first triumph in the competition’s new format.
According to The Athletic FC, the victory earned the club an estimated $114.6 million (£84.4m) in prize money, part of which will now go towards the donations. The move has been widely praised by fans and the football community.
