Chelsea Football Club has been charged by the Football Association (FA) with 74 breaches of its regulations relating to agents, intermediaries, and third-party investment in players. The alleged offenses span a period between 2009 and 2022, with the majority said to have taken place during the 2010-11 to 2015-16 seasons.
According to the FA, the club is accused of contravening several key rules, including those governing the involvement of agents in transfer dealings and the use of third-party agreements linked to players. The charges highlight violations of the FA’s Football Agents Regulations, the Regulations on Working with Intermediaries, and the Third-Party Investment in Players Regulations.
Chelsea has been given until 19 September 2025 to formally respond to the allegations. In a brief statement, the club confirmed it is cooperating with the governing body, including providing access to historic documentation, some of which had been flagged during the club’s 2022 takeover by the Clearlake Capital and Todd Boehly consortium.
The development places Chelsea under renewed scrutiny just three years after a change in ownership, with potential sanctions ranging from fines to more severe disciplinary measures, depending on the outcome of the FA investig
ation.
