Chelsea claimed a vital 1–0 victory over Tottenham Hotspur in a tense London derby on Saturday night, with Joao Pedro’s first-half strike sealing all three points at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
The Brazilian forward struck in the 34th minute, calmly finishing to give the Blues a deserved lead which they defended resolutely until the final whistle. Spurs pushed for an equalizer but were unable to break down a disciplined Chelsea backline.
The result sees Chelsea climb to fifth place on 17 points, level with Tottenham, Sunderland, and Manchester United but behind Spurs on goal difference. Manchester City and Crystal Palace follow closely behind with 16 points each, while Wolves continue to struggle at the bottom with just two points from ten games.
Chelsea’s win not only boosts their Champions League hopes but also adds further pressure on Tottenham, who have now dropped valuable points in consecutive matches.
