Calafiori Strike Sinks Manchester United At Old Trafford

Arsenal began their Premier League campaign on a high with a hard-fought 1–0 victory over Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday.
Riccardo Calafiori, making his first league appearance for the Gunners, scored the decisive goal in the second half. The Italian defender pounced on a Declan Rice corner that United goalkeeper Altay Bayindir failed to deal with, nodding home from close range to seal all three points for Mikel Arteta’s side.
United had periods of control and created chances through new signings Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo, but their lack of sharpness in front of goal and continued vulnerability at set-pieces proved costly. Substitute Benjamin Sesko was introduced in search of an equaliser, but Arsenal’s compact backline and goalkeeper David Raya stood firm.
The result extends Arsenal’s remarkable run at Old Trafford, where they have now claimed seven successive 1–0 wins. For United, the defeat leaves manager Rúben Amorim facing early questions over his side’s defensive organisation, particularly from dead-ball situations.
Arsenal leave Manchester with momentum in the title race, while United must regroup quickly ahead of their next league outing.
