Besiktas have reached an agreement with Arsenal over the transfer of Belgian forward Leandro Trossard in a deal worth around €20 million, marking a significant outgoing move in Arsenal’s ongoing squad restructuring.
The agreement between the two clubs is understood to be in principle, with the transfer fee structured at approximately €20 million including performance-related add-ons. The package is reported to consist of an initial payment of about €15–16 million, with the remainder tied to bonuses.
Despite the club-to-club agreement, the transfer has not yet been officially completed. Negotiations over personal terms between Besiktas and Trossard are still ongoing, alongside routine medical and contractual procedures required before finalisation.
Trossard remains under contract at Arsenal until 2027 after signing improved terms in August 2025. That contract increase raised his wages but did not extend the length of his stay at the Emirates Stadium, leaving Arsenal with limited long-term leverage in future negotiations.
The 31-year-old joined Arsenal from Brighton in January 2023 for an initial fee of around £20 million, which could rise with add-ons. Since his arrival, he has been a versatile attacking option, operating across the front line under Mikel Arteta.
Trossard played an important rotational role during his Arsenal tenure, contributing goals and assists in both Premier League and Champions League campaigns. He was often used as an impact substitute due to competition for attacking places.
Arsenal’s decision to sanction the move is understood to be influenced by squad planning and a focus on refreshing attacking options with younger profiles. The club has been assessing depth on the wings as part of its long-term strategy.
Besiktas view Trossard as a key addition to strengthen their attacking unit ahead of the new season. The Turkish club have prioritised experienced European forwards to improve their domestic title push and continental ambitions.
The deal is also seen as financially balanced for Arsenal, who are expected to recover a fee close to their original investment depending on bonuses included in the agreement. This limits potential depreciation on the player’s value.
Once completed, the transfer will represent one of Besiktas’ most notable signings of the window, bringing a Premier League-proven attacker into their squad at a crucial stage of their rebuild.
The final steps of the deal are expected to involve medical examinations and formal contract signing before any official announcement is made by either club.
If all conditions are met, Trossard will depart Arsenal after three seasons in North London, closing a chapter marked by versatility, tactical adaptability, and consistent squad contribution.
