Bernardo Silva Admits Arsenal Hold Upper Hand In Title Race As He Hints At Man City Future

Manchester City midfielder Bernardo Silva has acknowledged that Arsenal are currently better placed in the Premier League title race, while insisting the contest remains far from over.

Drawing on his experience in English football, Silva pointed to the recent dominance of Manchester City and Liverpool, noting Arsenal’s absence from title-winning campaigns during his time in the league.

“In my experience here in England, Liverpool have won two league titles and we’ve won six, so I've never experienced Arsenal winning the league,” Silva said. “But the truth is at the moment they're in a better position than us.”

The Portuguese international admitted City failed to take advantage of a key moment earlier in the season that could have shifted momentum in their favour.

“I've said both teams [Man City and Arsenal] would still drop points, but unfortunately we started the year in negative form, could've gained an emotional advantage and didn't,” he explained.

Silva added that Arsenal also missed opportunities to decisively pull away at the top, leaving the door slightly open for City’s pursuit.

“Then they could've distanced themselves even further but didn't, so they gave us a bit of hope,” he said.

Despite conceding Arsenal’s current edge, Silva’s comments suggest City still believe the title race remains alive, with plenty of fixtures left and pressure likely to play a role.

The midfielder’s remarks echo Pep Guardiola’s repeated insistence that the season will be decided by fine margins rather than early leads.

Silva was also asked about his long-term future at Manchester City, amid recurring speculation linking him with a move away from the club.

“I have an idea [of what will happen], but it's not a good time to speak about it,” Silva said, declining to offer further detail.

The 30-year-old has been a key figure in City’s recent dominance, winning multiple Premier League titles and remaining central to Guardiola’s tactical setup.

For now, Silva appears focused on the run-in, with Manchester City chasing Arsenal at the summit while uncertainty continues to surround his next career move.
