Kenya’s Benson Kipruto triumphed at the 2025 New York City Marathon, clocking an impressive 2:08:09 to claim the men’s title in a thrilling finish on Sunday. The victory marked another proud moment for Kenya’s long-distance dominance, as compatriots Alexander Mutiso and Albert Korir completed a clean sweep of the podium.

Kipruto held off a late surge from Mutiso, who finished second just seconds behind, while 2021 champion Korir crossed the line in third place at 2:08:57. The result underlined Kenya’s continued supremacy on the world marathon stage.

The achievement was part of a remarkable day for the East African nation, as Kenyan athletes also swept the women’s podium led by Hellen Obiri, who set a new course record. The double victory reinforces Kenya’s unmatched depth in marathon running.

Speaking after his win, Kipruto expressed joy and gratitude, dedicating his triumph to his training team and country. “It’s always special to win here. The support and energy were amazing,” he said.

The 2025 New York Marathon once again highlighted Kenya’s dominance in global athletics, leaving an indelible mark on the city’s streets and in the record books.
