Kenya’s Benson Kipruto triumphed at the 2025 New York City Marathon, clocking an impressive 2:08:09 to claim the men’s title in a thrilling finish on Sunday. The victory marked another proud moment for Kenya’s long-distance dominance, as compatriots Alexander Mutiso and Albert Korir completed a clean sweep of the podium.
Kipruto held off a late surge from Mutiso, who finished second just seconds behind, while 2021 champion Korir crossed the line in third place at 2:08:57. The result underlined Kenya’s continued supremacy on the world marathon stage.
The achievement was part of a remarkable day for the East African nation, as Kenyan athletes also swept the women’s podium led by Hellen Obiri, who set a new course record. The double victory reinforces Kenya’s unmatched depth in marathon running.
