In a pulsating UEFA Champions League quarter-final first-leg clash at the Santiago Bernabéu, Real Madrid suffered a 2-1 home defeat to Bayern Munich on Tuesday night. The result hands the German side a slender advantage heading into the second leg in Munich.
Bayern opened the scoring shortly before half-time when Luis Díaz broke the deadlock with a well-taken goal, giving the visitors momentum as the teams headed into the break.

Despite Madrid’s late surge, including several probing attacks and domination of possession at times, Bayern held firm to see out the victory. The result marks Bayern’s first win at the Bernabéu in the competition since 2001, ending a lengthy winless run at the Spanish club’s iconic stadium.
The match was marked by end-to-end action and a high number of goal attempts, with both sides creating chances but Bayern’s clinical finishing proving decisive. Real’s efforts to force an equaliser ultimately fell short as the visitors’ defence stood resilient.
Looking ahead, Bayern will take their narrow lead into the second leg in Germany, while Real Madrid must regroup if they are to overturn the deficit and progress to the Champions League semi-finals.
