Barcelona are reportedly set to part ways with star striker Robert Lewandowski when his current contract expires in the summer of 2026. According to Spanish outlet Diario Sport, the club has decided not to offer the Polish forward a new deal, allowing him to leave as a free agent.
Lewandowski joined Barcelona from Bayern Munich in 2022 and made an immediate impact, helping the Catalan giants win the La Liga title in the 2022/23 season. The experienced striker has been a consistent goal scorer, but the club’s leadership is said to be planning for a younger attacking lineup in the future.
Reports indicate that Barcelona’s decision is part of a broader strategy to reduce the wage bill and invest in long-term squad development. At 37 by the time his contract ends, Lewandowski would no longer fit into the club’s long-term sporting project.
Despite the growing reports, the club has not issued an official statement confirming the decision. Sporting director Deco has previously said the team would assess Lewandowski’s performance before making a final decision, leaving a slim possibility of a late change.
Several media outlets across Spain and Europe have echoed the claim, with discussions intensifying on social media platforms. If the decision stands, Lewandowski will have the option to choose his next destination as a free agent in 2026.
