Barcelona practically seal the signing of Nico Williams from Athletic Club
Nico Williams's representatives have officially told Athletic Bilbao that he will be joining Barcelona in the next weeks as Fabrizio Romano reveals the whole story.
Last summer Barcelona were in pursuit of the athletic Bilbao winger but later withdrew due to financial fair play constraints that prohibited the Catalan club from acquiring his services.
This summer he has again emerged as the best winger that the manager Hansi Flick and Barcelona president Deco see potential of a long time service at the club
Bilbao are now sure that Nico will join Barça; the deal is now subject to the payment of the release clause. Sources at Barça suggest the deal is now a "matter of time" – the club are working with Nico and La Liga to find the right solution for the transfer.
As per various sources across Europe, Nico Williams and Barça have agreed a contract until June 2031, with a salary worth €12.5m gross plus €2.5m in bonuses.
Barcelona are working to complete the signing as soon as possible; the deal is moving very quickly – it can be completed soon.
The representatives of the player have typically informed other clubs that were in constant pursuit of the winger to keep of the deal as it is practically being sealed with Barcelona.
