Barcelona dominate El Classico
Barcelona scored a dramatic late winner to beat Real Madrid and move 12 points clear in La Liga, boosting their title chances.
Real Madrid went ahead in the El Clasico tie as Vinicius Jr's cross was headed into the net by Barcelona defender Ronald Araujo, but Barca got back into the game and equalized just before half time through Sergi Roberto.
The second half was all about Barcelona’s brilliance and it was Thibaut Courtois who made excellent saves to keep the Current La liga holders into the game.
Robert Lewandowski's well-struck 25-yard effort and Raphinha's header put the Belgian on his toes as Barcelona asserted dominance before substitute Kessie was the hero at the 92nd minute.
Real Madrid came into the game having beaten Liverpool 1-0 on Wednesday to complete a 6-2 aggregate victory and move into the Champions League quarter-finals but could not get it right against the Catalans.
Karim Benzema, had the first shot of the match inside the opening minute but saw his effort from outside the penalty area well held by Marc-Andre ter Stegen.
Asensio had only been on the pitch for six minutes when he put the ball in the net late on, but the goal was ruled out after a tight VAR offside decision.
Both sides have 12 league matches remaining and Barca are in a dominant position as they look to win the title for the first time since 2018-19.
Barcelona manager Xavi said: "The league is not decided but it's a huge win of course.
"I think we deserved the win and we were better than Real Madrid, we created more opportunities."
Barcelona are next in action on 1 April with an away game at Elche before Real Madrid take on Real Valladolid the next day.
