Emirates stadium readied for champions league clash against Atletico Madrid
Atlético de Madrid have officially complained to UEFA after their players were left without hot water following a training session at the Emirates Stadium ahead of their Champions League clash with Arsenal. The team reported the issue to stadium staff upon arrival, but the problem was not resolved in time.
The incident occurred on Monday evening when Atlético’s squad discovered that the dressing room showers were not working. Players attempted to alert Arsenal staff, but hot water was unavailable during the training session, forcing the team to adjust their post-training routine.
Hot water was eventually restored shortly before the team left, but the players had already returned to their hotel to shower. Manager Diego Simeone chose not to delay the team’s departure despite the disruption.
Atlético described the situation as unacceptable, highlighting the lack of basic facilities at a top-level stadium. Arsenal issued an apology, calling the incident unprecedented, while Atlético’s formal complaint to UEFA emphasizes the inconvenience caused to the squad during pre-match preparations.
